Thai Students vs American Students

Students in different countries have different ways of showing respect to their teachers. Students in Thailand usually greet their teachers by Wai(ไหว้), holding hands together and bow. They also usually stop and let their teachers go first when they come across. When they call their teachers, they usually add a word, "Ajarn(อาจารย์)" before their teachers' first name. On the other hand, American students usually greet their teachers by just saying, "Hello, Professor (Teachers' last name)" and waving at them. Also when they come across, they do not stop. They just walk pass their teachers which seems irreverent to Thai students. However, it is part of different cultures that they have to understand and learn the way to act appropriately.
